What to Compare Before Choosing a Listing

For an official overview of how credit reports work, see the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s guide.

What Listing Details Do and Do Not Mean

What these details mean

Account age, credit limit, bureau coverage, utilization and reporting dates help you compare what is being offered.

What these details do not mean

These details do not predict a specific score increase or lender decision.

A higher limit, older account or combination of listings does not guarantee a better result.

Key Factors When Comparing Listings

Account age

Compare the account’s age with your existing credit file.

Account age alone does not guarantee a credit effect.

Credit limit

Review the limit alongside the reported balance and utilization.

A higher limit alone does not guarantee a score improvement.

Reported balance / utilization

Review the reported balance and utilization alongside the credit limit.

Bureau coverage

Check which bureaus the listing identifies.

Do not assume every account reports to all three.

Reporting timeline

Review the expected reporting window and the listing-specific final reporting date.

Expected windows are estimates, not a promise of a particular credit result.

Price

Compare the current listing price and any card-processing fee disclosed at checkout.

If You’re Buying for a Mortgage Specifically

For Fannie Mae manually underwritten loans, an authorized-user tradeline cannot be considered in the underwriting decision except in the situations specified in its Selling Guide:

  • Another borrower in the mortgage transaction owns the account.
  • The borrower documents being the actual and sole payer of the monthly payment for at least the 12 months preceding the application.
  • The account owner is the borrower’s spouse and is not a borrower in the mortgage transaction. In this situation, Fannie Mae says the authorized-user tradeline must be considered.

These requirements do not apply to loan casefiles underwritten through Desktop Underwriter (DU). Discuss your loan’s underwriting path and any applicable exception with your loan officer before choosing a listing.

Individual Listings, Not Named Packages

There are no current Starter, Mid-Tier, Advanced or other named package products. If you are considering more than one listing, compare each one separately for cost, account details, bureau coverage and reporting dates. Do not assume their effects will combine in a predictable way.

See Understanding Bulk Tradeline Pricing for order-pricing information, or Understanding Custom Tradeline Combos for how multiple individual listings compare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does TradelineScore sell named tradeline packages?

No. TradelineScore currently sells individual tradeline listings, not Starter, Mid-Tier, Advanced or other named package products.

How should I compare individual listings?

Compare account age, credit limit, reported balance and utilization, bureau coverage, reporting dates and price. No combination of those details guarantees a specific credit score or lending result.

Can I consider more than one listing?

Yes. Compare each listing separately and review the current order pricing. More accounts do not guarantee a better result.

Can I choose a listing for a tighter timeline?

Review the expected reporting window and the listing-specific final reporting date. Expected windows are estimates, and a listing should not be treated as a guaranteed seven-day credit result. See Timing and Limits for more detail.

Is there a minimum age for placements through TradelineScore?

TradelineScore requires all authorized users placed through the platform to be at least 18 years old. Issuer minimum-age requirements and credit-bureau reporting policies may vary.
